Making Chemical Companies Come Clean PDF Print
Friday, November 20, 2009

Dear Friend,

It’s flu season – and you might be doing a little extra cleaning to try and fight off germs.

But do you know what exactly you’re cleaning with? Probably not.

As you may know, earlier this year I introduced a bill that would require big chemical companies to come clean about the ingredients in the household products you use every day – products they sell you to clean your kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms.

For more on the Household Product Labeling Act (H.R.3057), watch my latest video blog.

I also have some good news. Since I introduced this legislation over the summer, groups concerned about cancer, consumer protection, and environmental health have endorsed the bill, as has the 2.1 million-member Service Employees International Union. And, we now have Senate companion legislation introduced by Senator Al Franken.

For updates, keep checking my website at http://israel.house.gov.

Sincerely,

Steve Israel
Member of Congress
